The shelves
Five shelves, one island
Clare trained as a textile designer, so she buys with her hands first: the weight of a mug, the drape of washed linen, the smell of Huon pine. What makes it to the shelves is small, useful and made here.

The wrapping bench
Brown paper, twine and a sprig from the garden
Every piece that leaves Wren & Willow is wrapped the same way, whether it is walking out the door on Salamanca Square or travelling to Perth. It costs nothing, and it is the part people remember.
- 1
Plain brown paper
Folded with sharp corners and no tape on show. It is recyclable and it looks like it came from somewhere.
- 2
Natural twine
Crossed both ways and knotted on top, the way parcels used to be tied.
- 3
A sprig of something
Whatever is good in the garden that week: eucalyptus, rosemary, flowering tea-tree.
- 4
A tag, if you like
Sending it straight to someone? Add a gift message at checkout and Clare will write the tag by hand. Prices never go in the parcel.
The makers
Nothing goes on a shelf that Clare has not held
She visits studios and workshops around the island, picks pieces up, uses them at home and only then decides. It is slow, and it is why the shelves feel calm rather than crowded.
Most of what you will find here is made in Tasmania by potters, weavers, turners and candle makers working in small batches. When a batch is gone, it is gone until the next firing.
