MaterialSalvaged Tasmanian Huon pine
SizeAbout 50 x 18cm
MadeHuon Valley, Tasmania
CareHand wash, oil occasionally
Huon pine grows about a millimetre a year, so a board this size holds centuries of growth. Its natural oil gives it that unmistakable scent and keeps it resistant to rot, which is why boatbuilders prized it.
Turned and finished in the Huon Valley from salvaged timber. Oil it now and then and it will outlast the kitchen it lives in.
