Beginner group lesson

Two hours in the whitewater with a small group of fellow first‑timers. You'll start on the sand, then head into the waves on a big, soft, stable board that's built for catching them.

Groups are capped at eight, so there's a coach close by every time you paddle for one, and every time you fall off. (You will. Everyone does. It's the best bit.)

Just you, or your whole family

Private lessons

A coach all to yourself, or a lesson for a family of up to four. Good for nervous starters, quick learners, mixed ages and anyone who'd rather not share the waves with strangers.

We go at your pace and work on exactly what you need, from your first pop-up to riding along the face.

I've never surfed. Is a group lesson for me?

Yes. The beginner group lesson is built for first‑timers. You'll be on a soft, stable board in small, friendly whitewater, with a coach looking after no more than eight people.

How long is a group lesson?

Two hours, which is plenty. Your arms will tell you so the next morning.

Do I need my own board or wetsuit?

No. Boards and wetsuits are included in every lesson, sized to fit.

Where exactly do lessons happen?

On the beach in front of the shop on The Esplanade. The coaches pick the best stretch on the day, depending on the swell, wind and tide.

Can our family have a lesson together?

Yes. A private lesson can be one-on-one or a family of up to four, all on the same lesson with the same coach.

Who coaches the women's mornings?

Women coaches, every one accredited and surf rescue qualified, on Saturday mornings.

How much does a lesson cost?

Call us on 03 5550 2210 or send an enquiry and we'll give you current prices for the lesson and group size you're after.
