No. 02Services

Six things we do well, all at a fixed fee.

From a single tax return to a company with payroll, every service below is quoted as a package before we start. Read the parts that apply to you, then book the free call and we'll tell you the number.

1Fixed-fee packages, agreed upfront. If something about the job changes, we talk about it before anything changes on the invoice.

No. 01Tax returns for individuals and families
A manila folder, two mugs of tea and a bowl of mandarins on a family kitchen table in late sun

What's included

  • Your personal tax return, prepared and lodged
  • Returns for your partner and family, handled together
  • Deductions checked line by line
  • A plain-English summary of where you landed
  • A fixed fee, agreed before we start

  • You've been doing it yourself and suspect you're missing things

  • Payroll run for your team
  • Deadlines tracked for you

No. 03Bookkeeping and Xero
A shoebox overflowing with faded receipts next to a neat manila folder tied with red tape

Books kept, Xero sorted, and you shown how.

We can keep your books for you, or set Xero up properly and train you and your team to run it yourselves. A bit of both is often the sweet spot.

2Xero training is in plain English. Nobody will say 'reconciliation' at you without explaining it first.

What's included

  • Bookkeeping done for you
  • Xero set up properly for the way your business works
  • Xero training for you and your team
  • An untidy file brought back into order

A good fit if

  • You're starting out on Xero
  • Your Xero file has quietly become a mess
  • You'd rather never look at a bank feed again
No. 04Business advisory

What your numbers are trying to tell you.

Cash flow, budgets and pricing. We turn your accounts into decisions: what to charge, when you can afford to hire, and how to stop the end of the quarter feeling like a cliff edge.

What's included

  • Cash flow forecasts you can actually read
  • A budget for the year ahead
  • Pricing reviews: are you charging enough?
  • Regular check-ins, at a fixed fee

A good fit if

  • You're flat out, but the bank balance doesn't show it
  • You're thinking about hiring or growing
  • You haven't changed your prices in a while

3Advice is quoted as a fixed fee too. You'll never be billed for thinking time you didn't know about.

  • Annual financial statements for the fund
  • The fund's annual tax return
  • Help getting ready for the independent audit
  • A plain-English summary for trustees

A good fit if

No. 06Start-up structuring

Sole trader, company or trust? Choose once, properly.

The structure you start with shapes your tax, your risk and your paperwork for years. We talk through the options before you register anything, then set it up properly once you've chosen.

What's included

  • A structuring session about your plans
  • A plain comparison of the options for your situation
  • Registrations and set-up handled once you've decided
  • Xero set up from day one, if you'd like it

A good fit if

  • You're about to go out on your own
  • Your side project is turning into a business
  • You started as a sole trader and have outgrown it
06 ยท The comparison

Sole trader, company or trust, side by side.

A rough guide to the three most common structures. It's general information, not advice for your situation, which is exactly what the free call is for.

Sole trader

You are the business.

Who owns it
You, personally
How it's taxed
Profit is taxed as your personal income
Your personal assets
Not separate from the business
Paperwork and cost
The simplest and cheapest to run
Often suits
Starting out, one person, lower risk

Company

A separate legal entity that you own and run.

Who owns it
Its shareholders, often you
How it's taxed
Taxed at the company rate; you're paid wages or dividends
Your personal assets
Generally separate, though directors have duties
Paperwork and cost
More reporting and more set-up cost
Often suits
Growing businesses with staff or more risk

Trust

A trustee runs it for the beneficiaries.

Who owns it
Held by a trustee for the beneficiaries
How it's taxed
Income can go to beneficiaries, who pay the tax
Your personal assets
Depends on the trustee; a company trustee adds separation
Paperwork and cost
The most involved to set up and run
Often suits
Families and longer-term plans

*General information only. The right structure depends on your income, plans, family and appetite for risk, and we'll talk it through before you decide.

Not sure which you need?

That's exactly what the free call is for.

Twenty minutes on the phone. You'll come away knowing what you need and what it would cost, at a fixed fee.
